Clannad ~After Story~ – Episode 07

New arc, new conflicts, new focus character.  This time it’s Yukine, the…. delinquent? The new arc seems to concentrate on Yukine’s involvement with the gang war that is plaguing the city.  There are some comedic scenes, but on the whole, I’m not getting good first impressions with this story.  If it continues the way it is, it could be the weakest arc in Clannad.

I didn’t feel the same kind of emotional connection as I did with Mei’s and Misae’s story.  I really hope that the writers aren’t trying to make us (the viewers) sympathize with gangs.  I’m sorry I’ve heard too many horror stories of gang violence to be able to do something like that.  I also don’t really know where this story is going…

On the interesting side though… I have a sinking suspicion that Tomoyo might end up being something of an antagonist.  The episode did have it’s share of comedy… namely after the crew get to Yukine’s gang hangout.  I couldn’t stop laughing when Tomoya was being seduced and Nagisa started to look all depressed.
